 Grammar: SECOND CONDITION

The second conditional is the one we use when we talk about things, usually unreal, that are very unlikely to happen.

Its structure is:
If + past simple + subject + would + infinitive.


Examples

1. I wouldn't be studying at this university if it weren't for my parents.
2. If my dad would leave work earlier, he would spend more time at home.
3. If my mom had a career, she wouldn't be a housewife.
4. If my family had a car we would travel more often.
5. If I went to sleep early then I wouldn't be so sleepy.
6. If it rained it wouldn't be so hot.
7. If my brother didn't drop out of college, he would have already graduated.
